Mermaids of the Sea

Do you believe in mermaids? In fantasies mermaids are the singers of the sea, they have a very nice body and voice. Mermaids are usually described as a human fish because they say half of them are tail and the upper part is a human body. When I was a kid I thought mermaids are like princesses that live in a beautiful castle with an army of fishes. Just imagine them swimming and talking with us?

For me, mermaids are really real but not the typical one. I have read an article about mermaids and it impressed me. Another term for mermaids are dugongs, they are gentle creatures and really friendly to humans. Dugongs have inspired the lore of the mermaids among early European mariners in Asia, are known as “sea pigs” among native people who liken their meat to pork. Guest what they can weigh up to 500 kilograms, live for 70 years, and lead mostly solitary lives foraging for food. Dugongs are unique creatures due to the fact that they are vegetarian.

A team from World Wildlife Fund (WWF), work tirelessly in their attempt to protect the dugong from extinction in the Philippines. Once in large numbers, this fantastic sea pigs now retains footholds in just four regions, with the largest concentration in Palawan. Yet no one knows how many are left in Palawan or in the Philippines.

A lot of group wants to protect and save the dugongs not just for tourism but also for the future children. I am scared because we are not sure if we can still stop their extinction. Another thing is each female dugongs only has one calf every ten years thus makes the recovery of the population uncertain, or slow at best. Normally, we have two babies every year and this is a reminder that Dugongs have a low rate reproduction.

Let’s help save our mermaids because I believe they have an important role in our country/ society. Believe it or not they can help us if not today maybe in the future.

..Strenght Within..

For me encouragement from parents is very important, you feel that even though every body laugh at you there is still a spark that comes from your heart. When my parents are supporting me in a particular field I want it to be perfect and I want them to see the best of me. I don't want them to feel down and to lower their trust in me. As I remember my mother told me that their is a certain point in my life that some people will criticize me, tell me that they don't like me, say things that will hurt me and people that will never understand my principles in life; she also told me that I need to strive hard and to prove them that they are wrong. From the saying of my mother I kept in mind that I did not exist to please the people who hated me so much, I also thought myself that I don't need to bother myself because God is showering all the joys and blessings to me. Encouragement from my parents also helps me recover from people that laugh at me because I'm different from them. My parents also taught me that not everything can be solved by just one click, you need first to understand and undergo struggles.

I thanked my parents for all the things that they taught me. Even though sometimes I'm a naughty daughter they keep on advising me the right things to do. It also came to the point that I'm irritated with the words that repeatedly comes out from their mouth. I don't one to miss any chances in my life that I will loose the people that I love very much. I know that no matter how strong I am I can not hold on without my family that supports me all the way. I thanked the Lord for giving me a very wonderful gift that I will cherish and treasure forever.

Why are people keep on complaining that their's lot of waste around them. Have you seen people suffering and dying because of sickness. Maybe nature is giving us back the waste we thrown to them. When I'm in Manila I saw lot of beautiful gimik spots but you will also see the pollution all over the place. Can you count all the polluted areas?I guess not. How about big factories that had lot of money, did they also think about how great the waste they give out? I also observed the poor people living near the river side that they throw their waste in the river. We can't control them to what they are doing, but do they think about the germs that are forming around them that can cause death.

What's happening to the stewards of God? Haven't they realize that Mother earth is crying out loud just to inform us how pain she feels. Why are the people getting to much and others have nothing? Nature is almost perfect, human destroyed it. Can't they see that nature is innocent? And nature keeps on helping us in our daily lives? When will we realize? Can we still help nature? Can we still change the bad cause? I believe in these 2 sayings: 1st-Cleanliness is next to Godliness and 2nd-Things that we throw will come back to us sooner or later.
